TOPIC 3: Community Gardens in Climate Change

This topic is to present both the obvious and the unexplored values of community gardens in the relevance of climate change.

The community garden is probably the best known form of the community based urban land use.  Those who knows and understands principals of the community garden movement know that a community garden is rather about the garden community than gardening. Beyond its fundamental functions, it could be innovation hub, learning and information platform, research site etc. as well. Gardening communities, sensitized to environmental and climate change issues, with their members’ diverse knowledge, skills and competences could take up leading role in climate education and dissemination of knowledge to their neighbourhood and to wider audience.
